Is it too early to plant out bedding plants in sheltered courtyard in East Anglia?

I would. We have been putting ours out for 2 weeks now (although we have been hardening them off for several weeks).

The norm is the last week in May, or first week of June. There is always the risk of frost up until then.

I'm in the east of Scotland and have just planted a few which are doing well.

If they are hardened off stick them in but just keep your eye on overnight temps.

The old uns tell us that May 15th is safe, but this is E. Yorkshire. I'd havethought you'd be OK in a sheltered spot.

I’m in East Anglia and I’d say it’s fine, especially in a sheltered courtyard. I used to wait until the Bank Holiday weekend just to be clear if those cold nights but there’s no need this year.
