Bank Details/free Apps

Merry Christmas to all on A/B.
As usual I come on here to get advice so here goes again!
I now have an Apple Iphone 6 - given to me by a friend - have set it up with vodafone and am slowly learnning my way around it. My question is, 'Is it usual to have to enter bank details when downloading a free app?' Thank you

Personally, I do not use my phone for online banking. I have entered credit/debit card details for some specific apps where I want the convenience of paying through the phone, but that's only a very few.

The issue with Apple is that they expect you to have an Apple account and that requires you to enter your valid credit card details.

Alhough I use Macs for computers, I do not want to do that on an iPhone so I have an Android phone.

If it is not an App that you know. trust and have complete faith in, then my advice would be to treat it as you would a dodgy person you just met in a strange pub.

You can them as much as you want, but you might end up regretting it.

You don't have to have bank details on your Apple App account. My sister has none on hers.

Thank you woofgang - I've tried to go with the 'no details' option but my phone won't let me continue - have decided to wait until after Christmas when I should be able to go and visit someone who knows about these things and has a lot of patience!
