The main issue would be religious division, either religion v religion or religion v non-religion. Unfortunately a lot of US religionists believe that death would lead to eternal bliss for themselves and eternal torment for their enemies. Such belief feeds war by removing fear of death. We see this in the way that some islamists use religion to recruit suicide 'martyrs'.

you ring up the police and say that there is a nasty man prowling outside ( n.famous person's) house. Tactical team goes in, all guns blazing - there is a mortality to this (the houseowner I mean). They are doing this to justices of the ameican supreme court
JayJay around us took an airgun to a girl's house and said his gran'ma had a shotgun ( unlikely even Oldham Rd). Gran'ma suitably swatted and unimpressed. My dog ( your darg, yup) was involved as he went in as well to make sure Hugo ( another dog) was OK. Slippy things these dogs....
SWAT man also unimpressed, presumably after using tie backs to tie the granparent to a chair and then finding nothing xc old illustrated London Newses and a few jars of jam....and all those papers to fill out
