Whiffey, I do agree with you that comparisons can and should be made with past wars ... primarily because we should try to learn from the mistakes made in them. As much as it is often said that the Brits and the Americans won the 2nd world war, in my eyes nobody did. I don't believe than anyone can win a war as all sides loose precious lives and families in all sides are destroyed because of it. The pain German families felt during the 2nd world war was no less than that of the families of other countries who were involved. I accept that unfortunately there will always be wars going on somewhere in the world. But I do not believe that they are THE solution to the problems we face today. I wish I had the magic wand, the insight to know how to prevent war and solve the many crises we have today, but sadly I don't. There are times when taking someone out (not to lunch!) may be the only solution but I would not like to be the person having to make that decision. People do most definitely need to make their voices heard. But as with children, shouting and screaming usually isn't very effective. It is often best to talk with knowledge and calm and good negotiating skills.
