....that anything Austria does makes zero difference to world emissions. Why do they not target the countries that can make a difference?

“ Author untitled, how do you respond to the post at 13:33?”
I think it’s wrong… china has actually reduced the proportion of its energy that comes from fossil fuels and is still doing so by investing in renewables at a very large scale:
https:/ /www.ls e.ac.uk /granth aminsti tute/ex plainer s/how-i s-china -tackli ng-clim ate-cha nge/
the main reason they are doing this so slowly is political… china is a one-party state which nonetheless has factions within the leadership who perceive the shift to renewables as a threat to their power because it is… but it is not true to say china has no intention because they obviously do
new judge has also confusingly responded as though i have said anything about small countries “setting an example”… i didn’t say anything like that… i said that the smaller countries like us are capable of working together to make a larger collective effort on something that is in everyone’s interests bar a vanishingly small population of oligarchs

The National Grid produces a monthly report of the sources for GB electicity so I have compiled a list of the percentages from gas with January this year being the first one.
Jan 27.5%
Dec 35.2%
Nov 37.6%
Oct 36.0%
Sept 43.6%
Aug 47.7%
Jul 43.3%
Jun 41.9%
May 43.6%
Apr 40.0%
Mar 35.9%
Feb 21.8%
Jan 37.4%
For the whole of 2022, gas accounted for 38.5% of electricity generated.

//Only 15% of electricity is generated using gas.//
As I write 50.94% of the UK’s demand is being met by gas.

Whilst the overall percentage of electricity may be lower than 50%, the Grid needs to have “spinning” capacity available to come on line when it gets dark and/or the wind stops blowing. It is not at all unusual for 50% of demand to be met by gas and the lunatics who glue themselves to the M25 campaigning to stop new gas being sourced at home are simply encouraging funds to leave this country to enable gas to be purchased abroad.
//…but it is not true to say china has no intention because they obviously do//
And the 250GW of new coal-fired capacity?
//new judge has also confusingly responded as though i have said anything about small countries “setting an example”//
That wasn’t directed to you, untitled. Apologies for the confusion.
