//…of which over 60,000 are nurses//
Not according to the Nursing Times, they’re not:
https://www.nursingtimes.net/news/workforce/record-numbers-of-international-nurses-on-uk-register-30-11-2022/#:~:text=Just%20under%2024%2C000%20internationally%20trained,12%20months%20to%20September%202018.
“Just under 24,000 internationally trained nurses joined the UK register for the first time in the 12 months to September 2022.”
Of course you may find it acceptable that the UK should plunder other nations – most of which are far less wealthy than the UK - for their trained medical staff. I’m not particularly keen on that idea.
//The vast majority of those net 600K+ migrants are Students [paying their way] (about one third of the total)//
Firstly on a point of pedantry, one third is not a majority – vast or otherwise. But leaving that aside, the UK is obviously very much “over universitied”. Since Mr Blair’s announced the target of 50% of young people to attend university, all manner of charlatans have taken it on themselves to offer degree course, many of which are not worthy of the name. Now they see the opportunity to earn a quick buck by charging overseas students a premium to take their courses. Evidence has emerged that many of them are running more of an immigration service than an educational establishment.
