PP; The Sand Dance! Saw it many times at Wigan Hippodrome. Wilson Keppel and Betty. He went on to be PM. She went on to become Frank Spencer's wife. Keppel went on to a quiet secluded life as an AB bit-part under the guise of an infidel.

christ - it was almost 100 y ago - you are right - wilson went onto become prime minister and Betty reported the Nuremberg trials !

Wilson and Keppel were always there but I think there were a few Bettys (was one of them the daughter of a previous one? Can't remember.)

jno; I suspect that they stuck with young Betties. I have read that there was more than one Betty. I remember that on a few occasions me mam parked me in the stalls and disappeared until their act was over, then came back for me with an ice cream tub and wooden spoon for each of us cos she was always in a sweat in the Hippodrome. She used to take me round to Auntie Ginny Dawber on those nights and leave me there with Uncle Jack, then pick me up in the morning with Uncle Joe (who had a business in Wigan making mint-flavoured sweets called mint balls).
My mum's first name was Eliza, which she hated because her mates called her fertiliser.

lol Atheist, I suspect a tub of ice cream after watching the sand dance was the children's equivalent of an ice cold Carlsberg in Alex after pushing a van across the desert
