Seems a decent prayer. One has to clear the bad stuff in order to replace with good stuff. It's much the same as when you take medicines for an infection. The major difference being that the infection consists of far larger forms.

Mark Twain was a wise man.

It is unbelievable that in 2024 we still find that killing other people is a reasonable way to settle anything.

I don't know the answer.

Some say that if  a decent distance is put between mankind and sky ghosts then war is a bit less likely.

If any god needs glorifying then build a church or whatever and sing your heart out or bob up and down in the prescribed fashion. It shouldn't be an excuse for slaughter and bloodlust.

Some are reading between the lines, or rather projecting their own views on an empty space.

In his piece Twain was saying wars a cruel thing.  Who would disagree with that?

War is a cruel thing whether God is involved or not.  In this case he is.

God is not a divine creator. A bearded, benign being seated upon a celestial throne. God is a force of nature, of creation. Like gravity, totally indifferent to the stupidity that people/ants get up to.

Our insignificant existence, or our extinction is as a tear drop in the  ocean, meaningless.

And there still is no effective answer to those determined to kill you and take what is yours, save for being equally detetmined to fight back more effectively. Expecting a magic alternative that makes things all ok again is pure fantasy. Either human beings start to civilise or they don't. While some may be more civilised than others, those who have fallen behind are the weak link that determines where we all are overall.
