Does he/she actually decide anything that you couldn't have determined was necessary yourself?

I went to my GP with a problem this morning. After a brief examination he said "I'll refer you for a scan & prescribe some antibiotics as a precaution."  I coulda told him that!!!!!!!!!!

GPs don't know anything.....mainstream TTT Gawd

and that was just to ask for a letter of referral to a private consultant. - you cd have referrred yourself by ringing the private consultants secretary

but you really always knew that

not a good idea for blood  cancer, OK for facial cancer

 

I've thrice not had to involve GP as "gatekeeper", once when Practice Nurse prescribed BP drug, and twice by (private) optician getting me hospital referrals. 

P.S. Although Private Optician, being over 70 the NHS pay.
