Rising Damp ?

When we moved into our house 4 years ago the survey picked up damp in the walls so we had a damp proof course done.

We have just noticed a damp mark / salt etc has appeared but this is on an internal wall (still brick). This room was decorated a couple of years ago but we didn't notice any damp area in that corner.

Is this rising damp and is there anything we can do about it ?

If the internal wall has it's own foundation with brickwork going down below the floor then it could be rising damp and will need it's own DPC. If it springs off the floor it could be nothing or condensation and I would wipe it off and re-decorate over and wait and see, at the same time ensuring air can circulate in that area.

This is efflorescence if the walls got damp before and dried out this could be the cause - not structural just a bit ugly

No, unfortunately not. As it's on the inside the wallpaper is stained and it feels as if the plaster underneath is crumbly. It also feels cold / damp to the touch
