why can't you cook chicken etc from frozen? sausages- some say you can and some say you can't, i don't i always defrost my meat/ mince/ chicken etc before cooking it... but i was just wondering if there is actually any scientificy stuff why you can't cook everything from frozen (apart from time of course) thx
He - I am an old lady now - but I have never defrosted meat of any kind - I cook EVERYTHING frozen - chicken, turkey, beef, pork, fish - EVERYTHING. Just start it out a little lower and slower than if it were defrosted. Once in a great while I will put a little bit of water in the pan if I am afraid it will stick - and after it cooks out - the meat defrosts/cooks/browns just like defrosted. Give it a try:)
If there is bacteria on the meat and you don`t thaw it out, the temperature to kill the germs is not reached and food poisoning can occur. This is why they now recomend not stuffing your bird as it can stop the heat getting to the cavity.
