How do I attach the first 4x4 wood to the ground for a short wall 12' what's the best method to connect the 4x4 together

4x4 seems a bit excessive to me, 4x2 would be more than adequate. I would screw the timber to floor walls and ceiling and then either nail the uprights at top and bottom and either nail or use metal brackets, for the noggins.
