hours i can work and claim benefit

i am self employed and dont work as much these days, what benefit can i claim and if i claim how many hours can i work each week and still claim benefit. if its hours how do they know how much an hour i earn, dont understand this bit. thanks.

I don't see one can be self-employed and claim benefits for the bits of the week where there's no work around.
