Sex Offenders' Details to be put on Internet

Sex offenders' details could be published on the internet according to a justice minister. Offenders who fail to co-operate with the police or abscond from their homes would have their information posted on a secure website if the proposals are enforced. The idea is to make the details of the most threatening offenders available to people if they are still at large. Is this the most effective way to deal with the problem of sex offenders in the community?

Absolutely atrocious ~ and an example as to why the public can't be trusted with this sort of info..

well the Government emptied the mentaly ill onto the streets (closed the Institutions) and the outcome ---- too many horrific crimes / murders etc.

now - they are doing the same with sex-crime criminals - the Register includes a wide-range of offenders from the most 'debased' paedophile to a real loving realtionship between a couple of kids a few days under the age of consent (no, I dont condone it / nor pass judgement)

now the idea of publicity ... following the american way!

it's a 'cop-out' by the Government ---> here you are voters, we dont have the resource to deal with this problem, so we will put it on your streets (and tell you where it is)

we should try using the punishments meted out during the middle ages, when the punishments fitted the crime.

therefore if you rape/sexually abuse/molest anyone you should get your tackle cut off.

that way you couldn't re-offend, and it would act as a hell of a deterent for would-be sex offenders!

Ok I've been on the revieving end of one and married to one. They are devious, lieing, manipulative individuals who for the most time are convinced they have done nothing wrong.
How ever exicution is way to quick and easy for them. Think fred West. He knew how hard it would be for some one like him in prison so he choose the easy way out.
Shove them in a cell. No tv, no computers, no light, food once a day, no contact other than a stroll round a yard where other prisoners who are aware of their actions, and see what happens. There lives would be hell.
Justice will have been served for the victims. Believe me thats what I'd like for the man who ruined my life and my daughters.

Judging from the publicity surrounding people like Gary Glitter and Michael Jackson the exposure and high profile trials do nothing to stem a perverts sexual desire. If found guilty any child sexual deviant should either be incarcerated for life or have his genitalia removed.
