travel insurance to dublin

Stupid question but will i need to purchase travel insurance to go to dublin for a long weekend? I am in the opinion of YES but my sister says NOT REQUIRED.

If you have an EHIC (E111 successor) you will be entitled to emergency medical treatment as if you were an Irish resident. (Whether this means free I don't know)

Depends if you want to cover other things like cancellation, baggage loss, repatriation in an extreme medical emergency and the like.

'Need' - no. Useful to have - maybe.

If you are going overseas on holiday it may be worth getting an annual policy which would cover you for Dublin at no extra cost.

No I wouldn't bother, if you need medical help in the south of Ireland you will get it. I am there often and although I am from the North of Ireland I would never think of getting insurance, Don't waste your money.

For piece of mind I would say yes.

Firms such as Go Travel will give you cover for about �6.50 each.Small price to pay if you have a medical emergency.

not required, but it might bring you peace of mind. Belonging to the EU should sort out any health emergencies. Household insurance might cover minor losses if you're not carrying the crown jewels in your luggage. What about flight cancellations? If you're going for 20p on Ryanair it hardly seems worth paying �5 for insurance to cover it.

I think yes and: Insure and go : online ( take the tick out so they dont charge you a pound to post) is worth �6.00
