1 my sister has be told she has diabetes, and been told she will be on tablets for the rest of her life. Shes been told that she is entitled to free prescriptions. any help

As for alcohol, she really needs to speak to the Diabetic Specialist Nurse at her GP surgery. Any advice will be specific to your sister so what applies to her may not be the same as her friend, it all depends on too many factors to try and offer third party advice on here.

a person can still drink alcohol when they take metformin.
it does however sound as if your sister needs to find out all she can about diabetes, and what she can and can't do, and the impact it will have on her life. managing diabetes is about life-style and living healthily. the more she knows about it, the better she will be able to cope and live a 'normal'life.
