There are many rumours. Anyone care to speculate on a motive?

Many Thanks
Whats the point on speculation by any of us. None of us have seen the body, none of us know about his private life.

I think he was murdered by Lord lucan.
Since he was in his hotel room, and no sign of a forced entry, (although I don't think it has been reported if it was locked or not). He must have know his assaliant.

Taking that he was a big guy and their was no sign of a struggle, I cannot see how anyone could strangle him, without him putting up a fight.

Taking all these factors in account, could there have been some sexual implication?
There have been rumours for some time about the involvement of Asian gambling syndicates around cricket and these people are no better than Mafia types, quite prepared to kill if their financial rewards are impeded in any way. Some of my South African relatives are not convinced the plane crash that killed the South African cricketer, Hanse Cronje, a few years ago, was accidental. He was involved in corruption allegations and the culprits involved in the bribery allegations on that occasions were also Asian gambling syndicates
It's quite a puzzle, on radio 4 it was said that he was strangled but without external bruising, how can that happen?
Some people are just bad losers!
Be fair. A life was lost here.
When I first heard the death and before there was any suspicion I felt that the international betting rings were in there somewhere in the sketch. Still wait to be convinced otherwise. Ireland's win was one of the sports greatest ever unpredictable results.
i'll go along with the match fixing theory, sports betting is rife in asia, my theory is that he was murdered because pakistan lost to ireland in the cricket world cup, this result should never have happened, i appreciate that underdogs win games, but this was the equivalent to a premiership football team losing to your local pub side {no disrepect to ireland}. these type of games are the ones where thousands of pounds are riding on them ie you would'nt of backed pakistan before the game started, but after pakistan ONLY scored 130 odd runs the game suddenly became appealing as a betting proposition, so you would of got better odds on pakistan bowling ireland out for less than 130 odd which they would of done 9 times out of 10, and now Bob Woolmer is dead.

Coincidence

i think not
it became a betting proposition wen pakistan were drawn against ireland.....

surely the easist thing if you had access to pakistani players would be to bet ireland to win....

they would have been a huge price and it must be easier to loose than win

in which case i find any betting theory on this match crazy.

that said, it wud b more likely of betting on matches in the past.......and publishing books....pointing the finger
Mrrobbo,

The big bets take place now whilst the game is in process ie betting in running, obviously you would'nt of backed pakistan before the game started but.......................
no...u wudnt of backed *********....but if you knew the pakistanis were non triers....you would lump on ireland big time.......

and you wudnt have got much of a price on either really betting in running

england are 1/9 v kenya 5/1 for tomorrows match.....now if you knew england were non triers.........

its blocked the word.....pak i stan.......dunno why
i agree with you Laurence2, i think that he knew something about the Ireland match being fixed ,and threatened to spill the beans, did anyone notice his face on tv as the Pakistani wickets fell one after another, it said it all to me,
