Cooking for 9
6 Answers
I have family coming over for dinner, there will be 9 of us, 4 adults and 5 children. I enjoy cooking, but I want to cook something that means I wont be in the kitchen all night, but is still something special. Not Chilli! Has anyone got any ideas?

If you are doing a desert one of those pastry cases full of summer fruits served with Cornish Ice Cream.
The desert can be made before and as all the main meal is roasted you will only be using your oven.

Sunshine - if it is warm enough to use the outside grill/barbeque - you can buy ready made pizza dough - from the supermarket or your local pizza place - make individual sized pizzas - pre-cook both sides on the grill - then let them put their favorite toppings on it and put it back on the grill to let the cheese melt. Everyone loves to choose their own.
yeh I was going to say lasagne too or some kind of casserole. Vegetables could also be done in advance and a quick heat up in the micro if you dont have room to keep warm. My sister had us all at the weekend and had made beef burginoin (spelling?) plus selection of veg. Had also shoved some sausages in the oven as were not sure about the 4 kids and the beef. We all managed to enjoy it all (6 adults and 4 kids) and although she had a fair bit of preparation not very much time in the kitchen while we were there.
