Personalised Number Plates
10 Answers
Hi all,
Is there anyone on here that knows of anywhere that I can get a decent valuation of a number plate.
I have a personalised number plate, that is 3 letters and a number that spells out a name, that was bought for 20,000 I am now looking at sellin, but every where I look at is only valuing it at 5,000 ish. I am finding this really hard to believe as on one of the websites it had a numberplate almost identical for 42,995.
Thanks

I would like to think that the police force Man in Black refers to is the one in my area - but I very much doubt it.
Many of the 'personalised' plates that these idiots display are difficult to read even when parked; how would a witness to an accident or crime quickly note them in an emergency?
I have seen some about a third of legal size, non-reflective silver on black (on late model vehicles) and recently complete lack of front plates - being driven on public roads.
Before any body says these are only minor offences, consider the fact that speed cameras, congestion charge cameras and similar automatic recording devices will not pick up such vehicles. But that is probably the intention.
What gets me is why the police do not also notice this very obvious infringement.

I am quite disgusted, that you all think people with personalised plates are idiots!
My plate spells my name and is perfectly legal. I don't have stupid fonts, ilegally spaced number plates, graphics or even the wrong coloured number plates. I have perfectly legal number plates, spaced correctly as per the DVLA, in a legal font and colour as sold by halfords.
I still get pulled over, as my car is modified, yes again perfectly legal. and I sometimes wonder if the police have nothing better to do.
But yes I can agree with you and say that people that have illegal number plates and illegal modifications to their car, should get pulled and even prosecuted.
I drive for my job, and even getting 3 points on my clean licence, would not only result in me loosing my job, i would have to find a new career.
So please don't tar us all with the same brush. I am doing nothing illegal!
Thanks

Hi Miss Naughti
I'm with you....any excuse & people go off on one about personal number plates.
Get in touch with www.theplatemarket.com. They're pretty good, & up front. They don't charge commission fees either.
You can decide how much you want to sell your number plate for, and you get to keep the whole amount. They charge an advertising fee per month. You're selling your number plate privately, basically! But doing it on-line.
I sold my number plate & got more money for it than if I'd gone through a dealer. It took about 6 months to sell mine, but it was only a set of initials. I suspect a more expensive number plate would take a bit longer to sell.
Anyway, good luck!
