is a question not that far from a statement and really just about perception?

a question is something that has a question mark at the end eg Nice day today? or This is a statement? so I would advise their frequent use in questions? Answers shouldn't need them, though? (to be spoken with rising intonation, like an Aussie?)

i don't think statements are acceptable just because they provoke a debate or chat - this is not a debating site or a chat site - its primary function is to ask and answer questions.

if you really want to get a debate out of some statement, just reword the post into a question.

this site is becoming a free for all chat room and general do what you like site - stupid questions, statements, pointless links, chat etc etc etc with genuine questions being shoved off the page or being filled up with chatter instead of replies - and thats why the ed is clamping down in it.

ab is a rarity in its function as a q&a site, and there are millions of chat sites - yet everyone seems to want to turn ab into yet another chat site!
