Tonight for example, I was going to have a packet of Co-op ham, mushy peas with chilli sauce, and mashed potato (without Masterchef lumps). Then, discovering that I had no microwaveable mash left in the fridge, I realised I would have to boil some water and mix up some Smash in a bowl. On a washing-up count this became unacceptable, so I have now settled for spag bol from the freezer. Total washing up one plate, one spoon, one colander (just a rinse in hot water), one Tupperware container.
I'm not sure if 'cook' is the correct term to apply to mushy peas. I just bought a pack of organic split peas from ASDA, soaked them in cold water for 30 minutes, then rinsed, and boiled them to bu$$ery. They are as I alluded to politely, very high in fibre, and all in all jolly good for you. Chilli sauce is just the icing on the cake.
