How long to cancel?

How long do I have to change my mind and cancel goods ordered on credit (DFS sofa)?
There is nothing mentioned in the small print that I can see that says I even have a right to. Anyone know what the position is?

Assuming that you signed the agreement in a DFS showroom, there is no cooling off period and therefore you can't cancel.

The cooling off period relates to agreements signed anywhere other than on the premises of the trader or creditor.

Cheeky Chops is absolutely right. There is no cooling off period. You are deemed to be a big girl and gone to DFS out of your own free will and sat chatting for a while to a very nice salesman/lady before agreeing to buy. It takes about 20 mins to fill out the credit form and requires signatures etc - usually plenty of time to say no.

HOWEVER they can cancel a sale if there are circumstances such as lost a job between signing and cancelling. You must phone the branch where you ordered it ask them if it's possible to cancel as somethings come up (usually they need proof) They can do it if the furniture has not been ordered it depends on how long since you signed.If it's only been a day and you get nowehere with the branch - phone customer services at their head office in Doncaster and speak to and grovel to someone their. They are under no obligation to cancel the order though and if they've ordered it through their suppliers or their own factory you may be struggling.

Thanks for the replies. I'll be wanting to re-order another model from them, and its only been a day, so I'll see what they say.

What happened? I'd be tempted to be a bit stroppy and say that you will refuse delivery of the sofa and will cancel any direct debits for the finance.
