I am 6 ft tall, my wife 5 ft. We are of the opinion that the painting should be hung where the viewer, when looking straight ahead would focus on the center of the picture.
I appreciate the difference in height makes a difference but wash basins, toilets and many other things are a standard size, tall and short people have to adapt to them. Does the same apply to paintings/ pictures?
Any advice will be welcome before I start drilling holes in the wall.
sockets are450mm above floor level and light switches are 1200mm, if you want to be consistent but should,nt something like a picture be in proportion to the walls say
2/3rds 1/3rd or 3/4 rather than suit the height of a person
i don't think these days there is a particular formula for hanging anything on the wall, it's where you think it looks the nicest. some people have lots of pictures hung on the same wall, in a random group, and they look nice. or two or three hung underneath each other, which also look nice. i wouldn't worry, it's not a precise science, just go with what you both think looks nice.
