Distance learning grants

I am an amputee and at the age of 54 (without my lower leg) I cannot find any grants to help me retrain and get back to work. I would like to take an animal behaviour course as I could then work from home with difficult pet's (mainly dogs) and at least be working even if it's only part-time. I cannot see me being able to return to my job as a Transport Manager as I like to work hands on and would need to drive LGVs occasionally, which I am now restricted from driving)
Any advise would be gratefully accepted.

If you get in touch with your local jobcentre plus office they have dedicated officers called Disability Employment Advisers who work specifically with disabled jobseekers. They may be able to point you in the right direction with regards to either retraining and/or a way to get payment for training you've identified yourself. The criteria seems to be job viability, if the training you want directly links with a possible job vacancy ie. you will not need to claim benefits and will be independant of the state then they may be able to make a business case to get funding for your training. The local JCP office will be in the thomson local.

Citizen's Advice Beaureaux are also good for finding all sorts of support that government agencies may not know about or be able to promote.
