Why was it faster and cheaper to travel after the boieng of jet air craft 707?

Becasue this was the fisrt airliner that was relatively cheap, mass produced, carried loads of people and went long distances. It also didn't have the terrible unreliability problems that the British built airliners of the time sadly did. So began decades of American domination of the airline market, which is only now being challenged.
