what is it with some girls ; women that are so nasty?
I'd be the better person and get the present
Hello, I think that you shouldn't remind him, if he doesn't buy presents for his own children.
I can garantee he'll be buying gifts for his new bird.

You are not being horrible or spiteful, it is a perfectly acceptable feeling that you are only a sort of relation to your ex-niece.

I might buy her a box of chocs, just from your kids to her, her parents will explain the situation.

Does he not see the kids much then?

Its about time he took responsibility for his actions, and that includes spending time with his kids, writing christmas cards and organising his own families christmas presents. Let his new tart buy them, you certainly shouldn't.
