ethernet adaptor

My computer needs to go in for repair, I have borrowed one to use in the meantime. The problem is there is no ethernet port on the tower and I have ethernet connection. Could someone please tell me if this will work.
Mini USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapter
Model No: MU2ETH|Manufacturer: N/A|Product no: 65
This adapter simply plugs in to the USB port to let your PC connect to your cable or DSL modem using RJ45. It also allows you to connect to any network(s) .
Or would there need to be something installed in the computer as well?

After conecting the USB adaptor it may prompt you to install the networking software, or you may have to do it yourself afterwards.
To do this you MAY need the Windows CD.

If you were feeling adventurous you could install a "propper" ethernet crd ... but it does mean opening the box. A card would only cost 3.99.
If you have XP you won't need the CD - if drivers are required they will be included.
if it's 98 there is a good chance that the correct drivers won't be on the win CD anyhow.
Whether you buy a card ... or USB dongle (easiest option) in this case make sure that the box includes Win98 drivers ... or that they can be easily downloaded
