This is only based on personal experience!  I'd leave it as it is for a bit.  We've just been through the same thing.  Give the puppy a few weeks to find its feet and gain a bit more size and strength and for the older one to come to accept it completely as part of its life.  Even if the old dog likes him, he may turn when you're not there and the puppy does something which irritates him.  It will all sort itself out in time but I wouldn't rush them too much.

Just to say, I agree one hundred percent with Mrs Pudding.  Even if your 5 year old Rottie played a bit roughly with the little one, he could hurt him quite badly and pups can irritate older dogs if they pester them too much.

Lucky you having two Rottwielers!

I love Rotties. I agree with what's been said...Just to be on the safe side, I'd wait a little while longer so the two dogs can bond some more. It's only really because of the huge size difference at this stage, and even the most docile of dogs can become very irritated by a pesky puppy biting your ears all night!

You'll know when the time is right to relax a bit. See how your older dog handles being annoyed with the pup, and watch how the little one reacts to being told off by it...that'll give you a guide. Good luck, it'll be loads of fun!

I had a similar situation with an 8 year old male rottie and a 7 week old male rottie puppy.  Both dogs slept in the bedroom with me.  The first night the puppy began to cry when I switched the light off and the older dog growled.  Silence. Everything was fine.  The puppy was an absolute pest to the older dog who tolerated only so much before putting the puppy down, but he never hurt him.  Rotties are not usually aggressive dogs, you must know the nature of yours, what do you think will happen?  If you are afraid the puppy will wee in the bedroom, I wouldn't worry, I never had a problem at all but made sure I got up early to let him out.  Good luck, I envy you your rotties.
