Whats your favourite sandwich filling, do you experiment with different concoctions, recently had cream cheese grapes and walnuts in brown bread, delicious.
Mashed banana & brown sugar, with a few raisins or sultanas mixed in. On brown.
Liver sausage & onion (but that's got to be in a soft white roll! Dunno why, it just tastes better.)
A crispy baguette, with hard boiled egg, lettuce, tomato, onion & mayonnaise.
Toasted ciabatta, with melted mozzarella, tomato & basil.....
Toastie with cheddar cheese & hot chilli peppers.
the best mixture i have had is ham and jam. i did it cos it rhymed, it wasnt that bad surprisingly. my favourite sandwich filling is chocolate spread though =]
for a nice change try a bagel with goats cheese spread pretty thick on the bottom slice, a couple of blobs of cranberry sauce or jelly, some sliced cherry or vine tomatoes, baby spinach and then spread some pesto on the top slice.
For a nice addition to the above fry some thin pancetta strips and add on top of the spinach. It's a taste sensation! :)
Brie and cranberry wholemeal baguette - I am pregnant so can't eat brie at the mo, but by God it is going to be the first thing I eat when I have had the baby.....
Cheese and Marmite, cheese and tomato or cheese and pickle on white farmhouse.
Well...UK is meant to have the biggest sandwich industry in the world so it doesnt surprise me. Still, you will never find an English restaurant abroad because our food isnt worthy of being exported (unless you count an all day breakfast cafe in Tenerife as English food!)
