2 scarts?

Our tv has 2 scarts on the back , i have only ever used 1 for the dvd player. i bought a freeview box and installed that in the other one. Now i can get reception from the freeview box, but only sound and a scrolling picture on the dvd. can any one help?

It sounds as if the scart for the freeview box takes precedence over the dvd player. Does it all come good if you switch off the freeview box? Some cheaper scart leads don't have all the pins connected, you could try swapping over the leads to see if it improves.

thanks for that - tried that and yes the dvd does play Ok without the freeview box on, but only from the same scart that the freeview box was originally in? Dont know if that makes any sense to you. dont really want to have to disconnect either one each time i use it. if i bought a new tv with 2 scarts would the same thing happen?
