Am I the only one who whilst singing "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" add the extra word of, i.e "Can't take my eyes off OF you"

It fits in better with the tune, makes the exact same sense and avoids doing a double tap note on off !

cant take my eyes F A O you
I love that song, never have a problem with needing to ad an of in there though. The Muse version is on my jogging playlist.

I like the Andy Williams song at the end of Shallow Grave....is it Happy HEart?
When I saw your question I had to go and look this song up because I have always sung 'off of' and assumed that was actually the lyrics. It does just sound better!

The Pet Shop Boys also sang it as ' off of', just as a bit of trivia

Well yingyang I guess we have been singing the wrong words for years!!!!
No, we have been singing the right words - the song was written incorrectly.
I always thought it was off of, well he is American, they don't know it all :-)
I didn't realise that I did that, but yes I do! (thought it was the words!)
I was listening to this whilst driving home tonight (R2, Drivetime, a listener's request) and what a fabby track, I thought.... great song, much maligned singer... by the time I got home that tune was well and truly stuck in my head..... anyway.... I just add an extra syllable to the *off you* bit..... so in my head it sounds like, "oh-uff you"..... so I understand what you mean.

OK, back to the crazy place .....

It always annoys me because I think it should be "can't take my eyes from you" - it seems better grammar to me. But that doesn't sound as good.
