I have been reading the rules, on line, of the game 'Shut the Box' and am not entirely sure of a couple of points. I have seen pictures of the game and can see there is a row along the top with numbers on, are these the 'Boxes'? Do they start up or down?, I have also seen a picture of the game where the numbers can be covered by blank hinged blocks, again are they closed when covered?.
I understand the player continues until either he/she can't close any more boxes( Have I answered one of my questions?) or wins by closing them all, assuming not all the boxes can be closed and play passes to the next player are the boxes 'opened' for their turn or left 'closed'?.
Are there any other rules which I would need to know of?.
Thanks

Hi depending on how many players ,you take it in turns to throw the dice the person who throws the highest number goes first then next highest and so on. You start with all the numbers showing and as you throw the 2 dice you close the numbers accordingly eg throw 2 6s and you could shut 8 and 4 or 9 and 3 etc.To shut the box you must close all the numbers ,of course if you are left with 6 or less you only use one dice .To win you must be the player with the lowest total left ,if 2 or more tie or shut the box those players go again its not as easy as it sounds throw the same number 3 times and you are in trouble. Hope this helps.
