Hello Does anyone know how to save or at least get a bird out from behind my gas fire that's dropped(stupidly) down my chimney? As soon as we have got it out I will get a grid over chimney, I just need to get the beast out first. Thanks Alison www.itsworthasking.com
Thanks for your replies, but I did in the end decide to tackle the fire myself after being told there was a 85 charge to pay to come out and free the bird......Had to literally dismantle fire and put back together after....Bird was fit as a fiddle and I popped him outside again, me.....Two hours refitting fire lol! A womans work is never done!
yes i sincerely hope that you did not break into the gas supply to remove the fire thus contravening the gas regulations and leaving you liable to imprisonment if you have left a leak which leads to an explosion and injury to yourself or others!
we only charge 30 to remove a bird, in fact we only charge 40 to service a fire which includes removing it from the flue. 85 to remove a bird, christ theres some people out there with no conscience
Dismantles fire = Takes front off and only back panel, no pipes were touched and no dangerous bit and pieces, as I am too scared myself to tackle anything more than unscrewing a screw!
But thanks for the tips, I know that Corgi are the professionals!
I hope you used a speacially designed heat resistant fire closure tape to put the back panel back on and then tested the seal is ok by testing that no deadly fumes where getting back into the room. I doubt that you have !!! You realy should not mess with gas fires. Is you're life realy worth risking for the sake of 80 ???
