Need a bank account!
7 Answers
I am unable to get a bank account with a debit card due to some bad credit. I have now seen advertised a company who will guarentee a current account with a solo card for 39.99. I feel this is my only chance at getting this account, can they be trusted to deliver this???

Anyone offering such an account will tie you in to horrendously large interest payments, so think very carefully, and read the documentaion even more carefully, before you sign up. Why not address your credit rating - check with your local CAB about getting your black mark removed.
i would suggest that the company are offering either HSBC or natwest. I would approach these yourself.
Alternatively woolwich open plan account offer an electron debit card.
If the company who say they can advise you for 39.00 say they can offer you one of the big 4 bank accounts then it will be hsbc or natwest.
They will only provide you with the application forms, a list of ID needed and send you on your way yourself anyway.
I wouldn't bother. Approach those 3 people yourself.
Worst still you won't get any bank account. They'll take your money and not provide you with any service at all.
What I suggest you do is go to the Woolwich bank and ask to open a savings account. They will give you the option to open a book account or a card account (which is what you want). You will get a debit card with your savings account, however you will not be able to arrange any Direct Debit on this account, but I think its better than nothing.
I know someone who was in the same fix as yourself and he sent off money for 'Guaranteed High St Bank account' All they did was send him a list of banks which offered basic accounts , and a list of the ID he would need to open an account. However this worked out for him because he did want an account with a cheque book and debit card, and top of the list sent to him was Halifax/Bank of Scotland , which even with his poor track record, were able to accommodate him.
i am considering this option myself as i have the same problem. I went into Natwest today to open my new account and was told if i had the slightest bad credit i would be refused abd sure enough i was. Am waiting to hear from other banks. All i want is simple account with debit card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
