Or has responding when you try to help gone out the window. Not hankering for thanks or stars but it would help to know if you are at least near the mark. I know people can be called away but today alone myself and lots of others are left hanging on at least ten posts?

I've just given an answer in Crosswords. Three stars were generated beside it without any input from me. Why?. ( The answer cannot have been that brilliant, can it ?.) By the way, Mamy...etc, I only check when there's an answer i'm not sure of as, otherwise , I get peed off when somebody has beaten me to the draw when I cannot tell if an answer has been posted. ( Incidentally, as I'm relatively new to this, can somebody tell me if there is any way to speedily check if new questions have been posted ?) Good night ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

It is the ANSWERBANK so why do you guys crave thanks? Just don't bother giving answers if thanks is what you want. It DOES seem petty to me. Let's take it as read that the receiver is grateful. I don't ask anything but if I give an answer to the chosen few I certainly don't look back to see if thanks has been said.

what bugs me also is when someone says "I you need
my help, I'm here" then you ask another question on the
same thread - and they don't bother.
Just look on Sundays and see how many say "thank you"

Podger123 I obviuosly didnt make myself clear as I meant not just or even the thanks issue,as an avid puzzler am very keen also to know if the answer is right or not!
You probably wont see this though if you dont check back, thanks for your input though.

I'm a dimwit. I don't really know what you mean. If you subscribe to the question the replies are delivered to your email inbox. I find it quicker, easier and more reliable to use google or xword solver books. I hope you're having a less fraught day. Mine is lovely.

Hi, I've just read through this discussion, and I have to stand on the side of those who check back to see if their answer has been acknowledged. If someone wants an answer badly enough to post it on AB, it's nice to know your effort to give it has at least been appreciated. I have never asked a question, but I've answered lots for other people, and I will carry on doing so regardless. You've only said what other people think. :)
