In my experience, the lazy bleeders I have known have been lazy because people pandered to them and let them be lazy. It's in my nature to look after people and do nice things for them, I like taking pressures off other people but lazy people will take you for a mug for it and, for example, instead of thanking you for doing their washing willask when you are going to do the ironing!
I don't believe that laziness is an inbuilt thing, I think that it is something that grows like disease if the person isn't given a swift kick up the a*se from time to time!
Laziness is definitely a state of mind. People can (and do) change but the expression, 'a leopard doesn't change its spots' holds true for lots of people...
Problem is, lazy is a bit of a subjective term - I really think I'm a pretty lazy bloke but my wife & friends all tell me I do too much & should relax more. Personally I feel that if I did relax any more I'd be in a coma!
I feel its worth considering my mate's philosophy though - as far as he's concerned, lazy is just another word for efficient!
I am inherently lazy - see, it's not just the men! - but over the last 5 months i have been striving to change that. And there is a definate shift in my behaviour, washing up plates straight after a meal, keeping my houe tidy, going to a gym, etc etc. I don't think any of it will ever come naturally but you can change your behaviour patterns if you really want to. Think that's the clincher - you've got to want to, and it is absolutely no use someone else telling you that you should. All this has also come about because i've started living on my own for the first time ever.
So in a nutshell - you have to want to do it, no-one else can be doing things for you and it doesn't help being nagged - that tends to make you want to do even less :o)
