by scan usually just over 6 weeks.

With dopplers, that varies. Many midwives wont even try and listen to heartbeat at an antenatal appointment until about 16 weeks as they can be hard to find until uterus is above the pubic bone.

yep midwifes normally say they wont be able to find heartbeat themselves at clinic sessions until well after 12 wks but i asked her to try when i was about 10wks with my son and there it was loud and clear! are you pregnant?
Depends whether you mean detect by sight or sound.
You will SEE the heartbeat at 4 weeks with a trans-vaginal ultrasound scan. And about 8/9 weeks with an abdominal scan. As for hearing the heartbeat I am not sure but I think about 4/5 months.
when I was pregnant I was able to hear the babies heartbeat at my first visit to the midwife when I was about 8 weeks.
