Form filling as part of the job

My partner works for an offshoot of the NHS-as a driver. He has worked for them for 16months. Recently there has been an avalaunch of new paperwork for the drivers to fill in.These range from daily time sheet which must be filled in and filed weekly -to the most recent - a 'profile'sheet with personal details .No-one has consulted the drivers about this paperwork -which all must be done on the workers time as there is no time spare in the working day. Meetings are held during the working day - when the drivers are still on the road. Do they still have to comply with these ever increasing demands? Can they do anything about them?

See his union rep? I guess that as it's an offshoot that he's working for a private company and so probably doesn't have a union so confronting his boss about it would be the only solution. If his job is affected by the extra paperwork (ie, he does the paperwork in work hours but doesn't finish his rounds), it's not his fault.

OK....I'm a dinosaur struggling to cope with today's society and practices, but I'm also a prostitute in the fact that I'll sell my time and my services to the highest bidder in return for a certain ammount of what's laughingly called a salary or wage.

What I won't do is give "freebies".  If I'm not getting paid for it , it simply won't be done.  Too many employers these days think they own you 24/7/52.

Time for you, preferably with the support of your colleagues, to tell them where to get off.

Without being rude, they pay him therefore he should do what ever he's asked. If he doesn't like it there are plenty of other jobs around just as there are people out there willing to do it.

As I say this isn't meant to be rude.

My personal view is that I'm contracted 9-5, they get commitment for that whole period, I do what ever is asked, I fill out useless paper work, do timesheets and all sorts but as soon as it ticks over to 5:00 I'm out of the door. The company I work for know they get 100% from me during my contracted time but after 5:00 that's it and they respect that.

If they kick up a fuss I'll move on.
