Vancouver, Canada (AHN) -- In an effort to highlight the ease at which drugs are available in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside streets, radio station DJs played a prank, sending someone out to find and buy heroin, all while wearing a beaver costume--and it didn't take the DJ long to find it.

On June 4, CFOX-FM sent a DJ who goes by the on-air name, Captain Scotty, to a street that is notorious for drug deals. Dressed as a beaver and carrying a sign that said he was looking to buy heroin, the DJ was reportedly able to purchase the drugs in a matter of minutes.

The whole thing was broadcast live on The Jeff O'Neil Show. Two police officers were listening, went to the scene and confiscated the drugs, but did not make any arrests.

While the stunt has comical overtones, Vancouver's drug problem has been an ongoing issue for more than a decade. In the Downtown Eastside section of the city, one- in-three residents is HIV positive and 70 percent are known to have hepatitis C. Heroin and crack are two commonly used drugs in the neighborhood.

I don't think that is particularly worth commenting on.

Most countries have drugs problems, and Canada's and New Zealand' s are particularly well known, as well as the more obvious countries such as America and Europe.
yes, but few other countries have beavers with a heroin habit, Ethel. I've definitely never seen any in Andorra, for instance.
