System Restore
18 Answers
Appear to have a number of issues: Freezing screen, long waits for websites to load, time-outs, etc etc.
Considering a system restore to an earlier date. Will yesterday's changing of the clocks cause problems within my computer?
Many thanks.

no the changing of the clocks won't effect anything.
But why a system restore, update all drivers make sure you've got all the latest windows updates, run a full AV and spyware scan. run target='_blank' href="" target="_blank"rel="nofollow">http://www.ccleaner.com/">Ccleaner to clear all the temporary files and other rubbish and you'll probably end up with a better results then a restore gives you.

No need to shout :)
AVG, mcafee, are anti virus program, not anti malware or spyware.
spybot is meant to be anti spyware, but it's rubbish!
Adaware is the best in my opinion, but I have heard that malwarebytes does the job too.
Ccleaner clears all your temporary files and other rubbish that just left laying about on systems after a little while that although they are harmless they do effect performance.

Thanks again chuck
This is the version of AVG I have at present.
http://www.avg.com/product-avg-anti-virus
I am always cautious about downloading too many because of possible conflicts.
However, will see what happens.
Thanks Ethel also

This keeps coming back - I know it's a controvercial subject round here.
leggy - I'm sure you mean well
but you've managed to link every application you've recommended with the wrong function
>>>malware bites found 100s of viruses?
>>>spybot couldnt neither could macafee and avg and c >>>cleaner toofailed
>>>c cleaner was sugested on here to me
>>>malwarebytes is far better .
>>>in my non tech opinion
the only malware scanner in the whole lot was spybot
the rest are virus scanners
ccleaner is a system cleaner - nothing to do with virus or malware ..... should you really be offering others the benefit of your experience?
perhaps the reason nothing else finds anything is that nothing is actually there - (false positives)
ethel - how do you know it's not there ?
using rubbish to detect nothing isn't really the way to measure mediocrity
As I was going up the stair
I saw a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
Oh how I wish he'd go away
I must admit I know almost nothing about the real meat of virus and malware scanners.
I know enough to be concerned - and I have friends in the business who make a lot of money from this stuff - I value their opinions.
I know I like the taste of chocolate - but how do you judge a good scanner?
To find something means your existing protection is lacking
not finding anything ... that can also mean your protection is lacking.
it's only if you KNOW you infected your machine with 100 viruses and X found all of them that you can make a real opinion.
and that's what the magazines and security types do (I haven't done it in 20 years!) - they actually infect a machine and then scan it . and then protect a machine and see if they can

how do we do it?
"well it's free!" and the bloke down the pub said that someone he knows said .........
I'll stick with the mags on this one - the rest is just opinion - hell I don't even trust my own opinion on this subject - I rely on the kindness of others
..... Predictable and cautious
if I'm wrong - well I'll buy you all a pint this xmas
