Have a read of the following and see how NOT eating british veal, may actually be more cruel!

I've only had it a few times. The first taste was in Italy. I'm sad to say it was white veal and long before I spoke the language. I was only young at the time and had no idea what it was.
It's a good job I found out though - as it was THE best meat I've eaten!
(As was the horse meat I had - sorry!)
I have had rose veal since and thought it was nice, but not a patch on that wonderful osso buco! Almost thirty years later, and I can still taste it! Drool....

Veal is freisain calf meat from dairy cows. The calves are killed to keep the milk flow. It's un-economical to rear freisian male calves as they don't make good beef as they are big boned.
Veal is utilising the calf meat, tender and tasty; try:

I once saw a documentary on how veals (lol- i have to leave that in for comic value cos I reallly did type that) were reared and I cant eat it now.I daresay the conditions are far improved but its like apricots -cant eat them either cos I was sick at school dinners once and that was the last thing I ate-so basically I have a mental block.
I went on holiday to Italy and they did a menu of local dishes. Veal sausages were on the menu and although I don't agree with the way veal is raised, I didn't want to upset the woman cooking. So I had 1 sausage. And it was the nicest thing I had eaten for ages and I wished I didn't have principles!!
I can't seem to find rosy veal anywhere, but would love to try it.
Mmmm
