Would you still send them?

I've quite a few Christmas cards left over from last year. On the back of the cards, the following is printed:

"Recyclable at Sainsbury's until 8th January 2008".

If I send them out this year, do you think the recipients will think I am a cheapskate? Think I've bought the cards on the cheap because of the wording on the back?

Would you just send them anyway? Seems a shame not to use them. Whaddya think? Send them out or scrap them?

Jolly good mrs.chappie - please let me know how it goes!

Yes, I agree with that Totterdown, although I now buy all my cards from the Card Factory shop that's opened up nearby. They're really lovely, meaningful cards & at a fraction of the price you pay elsewhere!

I make a lot of cards, but I thought I was doing my bit for charity by buying some that looked pretty. Wish I had noticed the wording on the back!

I hadn't thought about it that way, but I guess Totterdown is right - it's probably a ploy to get you to buy more cards the following year!
Send them anyway chappie. It IS doubtful that anyone'd read the date on the back - and so what? It's the thought of sending the card in the first place that counts.
....I should have said mrs.c - both our daughters are very artistic & like you, have made many beautiful birthday & Christmas cards. They also do 'old English' & italic writing, so really enjoy it.

I have a cupboard full of arts & crafts stuff, so we & the grandchildren sit drawing & making things at the dining table - that & writing is a lovely pastime.

Good luck with the back scratching! ;o}

You're right Ice, and I will send them. I'm gonna have a go at scraping the wording off though. I'd prefer it not to be there, if I can get it off.

Hi Smudge, I hope you'll come back and look at this thread, although it's over a week old.

I tried scraping the wording off, but wasn't successful - you could still see the imprint and it looked messy.

So I have cut the tree off the front of the cards, and made new cards with the trees. Good idea eh? I have lots of card-making materials, so I didn't have to go out and buy anything I haven't already got.

I've not done it to all the cards - I've sent a few as they are, with the wording on the back.

Thanks for your suggestion.
