Am I the only one who gets annoyed when people say things like: 'at this moment in time' instead of 'at the moment' 'I, myself, personally' instead of 'personally' 'hence the reason' instead of 'hence' etc, etc. There are many more but these are the ones that particularly get to me.
"It's not acceptable" used by officials and politicians to mean 'wrong (or 'we don't like it') but I and my organisation don't want to take responsibility or blame for saying so and prefer to talk impersonally (and make the declaration sound unappealable, like a divine utterance, Fate or fact of life )'
I hate it when people say "actually" every other word (sales people do it all the time!)
also, people (usually in customer service) say "for yourselves" instead of "for you". like Catherine Tate's BBJs sketch.
and lets not forget the teen phrase of doom.... "is it" but said more like "iz iiiiiiiiiiittttttt"!!
