Need to rant!
Why do some parents do not know how to discipline their children?! It is sooo annoying.
I was at a soft play centre today with my 4yr old and another girl who looked around 2-3 yrs scratched her hard on the face several times just because she was in the pink car the other girl wanted. My daughter came running to me crying and the mum looked but didn't do anything. I watched them and minutes later she did it again! This time I got up and told the girl off myself! Her mum eventually told her no as well half heartedly.
this girl did this to several other girls as well who were all alot older than her and yet none of them did anything back!
When it was time for her to go she wouldn't do as she was told and it took her useless mother 15 minutes to get her out of the place! She even resorted to going out of the door herself and pretending to leave her which didn't work.
Right I feel better now! What annnoys you about other people's kids?

Much as in your experience today, it's not the kids fault really - at that age she is getting all her knowledge and discipline at home and basically doesn't know any better. I would have done the same as you, told the kid off myself and may have been tempted to give the mother a talking to as well!
I agree Tigwig. People seem to be so lazy with child rearing, that for an easier life they just ignore their childrens bad behaviour.
I work in a large Tennis Club, which welcomes families. I never ceased to be amazed how lazy parents will just sit in the bar drinking and let their children run amok, using the place as a huge playground, bumping into people and yelling.
I was in the gym about a year ago, where at certain times of the day, children over 11 are permitted to use the facilities. A boy of about 11 started trying to break one of the machines, so I had a stern word with him. I couldn't believe the woman on the treadmill watching this behaviour was his mother, who had the audacity to tell me not to say anything to her darling son. No wonder we have the problems we have.
When I have mine next year, I don't intend to put up with any rubbish. I only hope I keep to that pledge and don't becaome a soppy, weak willed mummy.

Because, as we all know, parenting takes effort, and some people just can;t be bothered.
I don't think parenting comes naturally to some people in the way it does to others. We all know how manipulative children can be - a perfectly natural part of their development, but when it comes time to enforce some rules of behaviour, some parents either don;t bother because they simply don't care, or they don;t know how, so they simply shout and hit, or they try to 'befriend' their child, which leads to ever worsening behaviour.
I think part of the problem is the absence of extended families. Years ago, a new parent had his or her own parents and even grandparents around as role models to help and advise - these days society os too fragemnted for such support systemts to remain in place.
It is irritating, and we reap what we sew - generations of increasingly badly behavde adults who all want their rights, but don't want their responsibilities.
All you can do is the best you can with your own children, and leave the rest to it. Not a solution, but there is little you can do.
Except rant on here - which is always theraputic!

i totally see your point, but some kids just dont listen, it isnt always the parents fault, just think if that kid was like that then , what she must be like all the time, the mother has probabilly had enough!!!
you should never give up on your kids tho and certainly not stand there and watch them attack other kids!!!!
my 7yr old can be the best and worse little girl ever!!
mostly good and when she is good she is so loving and kind and just lovely but lately seen some dark sides to her and it upsets me so much, i feel guilty and ask myself what am i doing wrong, so i can see it from a parents point of view aswell, tho when i say naughty i mean cheeky and not doing as she is told, she would never lay a finger on another child.
i find other peoples kids really irritating sometimes tho!! isnt it weird how you love your own and put up with anything but if another child did it, you would stand there and frown!! lol or is that just me!!???? lol
i hate seeing little kids smoking and swearing or fighting, you think to yourself - they must have terrible parents!! but my mum and dad brought us up all the same, now there were 3 of us, i was the youngest, and i had to elder sisters, the eldest was fine, i was fine, but the middle!! she was a right tear away, smoking, sleeping around, not coming home till next morning and this started at 13, i wasnt like that at all and nither was the eldest, we grew up in a nice area, i think parents arent always to blame, my parents treated us all the same.
tho i do know some parents that dont give a sh*t about there kids and it really dose reflect on the way they grow up, breaks your heart to watch what was once a lovely kid turn out to be a druggy or a thug just coz the mum didnt have time for them :o(
