Hi, can anybody help?? I am in the process of buying a new bathroom, - got someone from B&Q coming out to measure up and give me a quote! However I am unsure if I am getting a good price as I have nothing to compare it to! B&Q have a half price sale on (incl installation) however how much should I be looking to pay for installation? Its just a straight forward bath, toilet and sink to be installed?? Also does anybody know of anywhere else in I can get this service from in the North West of England? Thanks in advance xx
I'm nowhere near you geographically, but have had a few quotes. last year I got a complete quote from B&Q and it was about 5k. just the installation was about 70% of the overall cost. this was about the same as other places I tried.
I've been back today, and am expecting to get it all done for half that price, plus it's on interest free credit.
when they (b&q) say they are offering half price sale including installation 1/2 of what, you know how much the goods are, the best bet is to source the local plumbers for quotes or better still go on recommendations hth Tez
As others have commented, the trouble with half price sales is that you have no reference point. Half price could relate to 'our previous prices that were so inflated that we never sold any at that price'.
The ONLY way to assure value for money is to get comparative competitive quotes using a similar baseline. So get HomeBase or a similar outfit around for comparison and try to ensure that the different organisations quote for the same things.
Even if you don't like the actual sanitaryware from the other showroom it is worth doing, simply so you DO have a reference point, AND so the you can tell the first organisation that you are making the job competitive - it ensures that sharpen their pencils a bit.
It is utterless pointless us guessing what an 'average' price is - there are just too many variables and unseen issues that can only be assessed by a site visit.
