can anyone offer any help for a sciatica sufferer? My man has had incredible pain for couple of weeks. been to doc & got co-codomol and anti inflamitaries. He's 63, still working (keeping archives updated) & has been told to keep active. He can be fine for an hour or two then won't be able to even stand up. can't walk hardly at all! Feels raint with the pain. Anyone offer any inspiration?

I couldnt sleep and walking was excrutiatingly painfull, had it for a week or so and went to the docs who gave me something , can't remember what now ,
after another week it was no better so went to a sports physio who covered my leg in some oil like deep heat and massaged it so hard he bruised me , i went out of there thinking that was a waste of money , paying someone to hurt me bad, woke up the following day leg bruised but nearly pain free , the following day it was gone , If I were to have this terrible pain again I would definately go straight to a sports physiotherapist for them to sort it .

As tufty says, find a Physio for a massage or perhaps you can do it with a heat related cream or oil, also when he lays in bed, have a pillow between the knees also. I suffer fom this and had Accupuncture to help ease the pain. After the masage put an ice pack on the area for around 5-10mins (a pkt of frozen peas will do). Hope this helps, its so painful.
