Not much of a compensation for losing your liberty for nigh on 30 years .

The frightening thing is because whilst in jail never expressed any wrongdoing he was unable to be considered for a parole. Surely the law is wrong in this regard? Its just like saying "have you stopped beating your wife".
in previous cases of miscarriage of justice, hasn't it been the case that any compensation given has been tempered by the government charging "board & lodging" for the time spent in prison?
Poor guy, looked a little simple and like he did'nt know what was happening,so the money will never be able to change his state of mind but a least will go towards his having an easier life which he more then deserves.
In awarding compensation the act should take into account how the accused contributed to the wrongful arrest and sentence. The fact that he said he carried out the murder influenced the jury so much they felt no sane man would have said it. But was he sane?
