bought a big wedge of a vegetable reduced at the supermarket. its orange in colour on the inside with a squishy bit in the middle with seeds that almost look like pumpkin seeds therefore could it be a pumpkin, thought they were orange on the outside tho, this one is brightish green and yellow on the outside, a bit stripey. thinking of roasting it in cubes but unsure.any ideas what it can be?
It sounds like a squash. De-seed it, peel it cube it and roast it in the oven with some olive oil, salt, pepper and a bit of thyme. Or de-seed it, peel it, boil it and mash it with some butter.
or if you have a sweet tooth sprinkle brown sugar up and down the flesh, break up a couple of cinnamon sticks and stick them in the 'bowl' where the seeds where (chuck the seeds)
Lovely stuff, full of vitamin C and beta-carotene.
just looked at the pic, defo not that colour on the outside, more green and yellow mottled, not too stripey. i cubed it, put in the oven to roast, salt and pepper on it and it was yummy, very sweet, still dont know what it was though! would like to buy more but still would like to know what im asking for!
no, gilf it didnt look like any of those pics. wondering now if it was a marrow, it wasnt a melon, no, just went very sweet when roasted like a sweet potato. im still none the wiser but it was very nice!
