Does anyone have any interesting reasons for choosing their user names? Do tell, without giving away any personal information, of course.

Am into astronomy and think that M31 is a great looking galaxy. Picked it as my craft name a while ago. Plus I always fancied being an 'Andy'.

Andy

it's a combination of my initials and the answer to life the universe and everything, or half of one of my fav band Level 42
My user name is the name of my boy jack russell....!!!!
I was given mine by a Turkish friend after an embarrassing misunderstanding during a phone-call. When I called and told her it was Jean ringing from England, she heard it as Jane and launched into a tirade to stop harrassing her hubby and slammed the phone down! I had to get MY hubby to call her back and explain.....so I became 'ipek' thereafter to avoid confusion. I took to it straight away because it means 'silk' (the Turks have a habit of naming people after things) and makes me feel as special as the fabric.
Quick to type, rarely mis-spelled, usefully androgynous.
In person I often manage to come across as pretty scattered. A friend of mine started referring to me as 'tief' without any explanation. I finally beat it out of him - he said he'd had the wrong impression about me for months and if I wanted to know why 'tief' to go and look it up in the dictionary. Didn't tell me to get a German dictionary did he? Funny little word, but it's grown on me over the years.
I got mine at work due to my habit of "borrowing" items of stationery and othet interesting things for my own departments use...
I chose mine because I'm a big bloke called Dave. But Big Dave is taken everywhere, so I thought 'whats bigger than big?' Mega was taken too and so I went for Giga! And thus Gigadave was born...
I'm on the run from agents of oppresive machines. Or am I the King of the Dreaming? Even I don't know anymore,
Hey, morpheus - you're back!! Good to 'see' you again!
As I'm sure a few of the movie fans out there will realise, my username comes from the 1960 film starring John Mills and Sylvia Symms - Ice Cold in Alex. It was a name given to me by a very gorgeous girl who I used to work with. Not that interesting. ( and yes, my name is Alex)
I watched that film this afternoon! And yes, it was worth waiting for... oh, my name? I grow cacti. How dull eh?
