Why do some images not appear in Firefox? I am not blocking pop-ups or ads, or using noscript. If I look at the same page in Internet Explorer the image is there. What's going on?

It's unusual to hear of this problem with Firefox. (It happens frequently with Internet Explorer). However, almost any problem with Firefox can be solved by simply reinstalling it. (Don't uninstall it first. Simply install it 'on top of itself'. You'll keep all of your bookmarks and personal settings but, hopefully, your graphics problem should be fixed).

I'll try it, and post an answer, but I'm sure this has happened before. I seem to remember typing in "about:config" and seing pages of settings for Firefox, but I can't remember which one I altered.
Question Author
No, reloading doesn't work.
I had a similar problem.
Try tools > options > content . Where it says load images automatically, click the exeptions box to the right and see if anything is in there.
Try running Firefox in safe mode. In the programs list where you'd click Firefox, there's usually another item there.

Does the image show now?

Sorry, folks. No good!
Give us the link to the web page then, and we can check it out. Could be a load of things.

The website is http://www.royalmint.com/store/BritishGold/SV0 9.aspx, and the missing image should go right in the middle of the page; a picture of a sovereign in a box.
It would appear to be your flash player add on, try and install it from this link.

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
It would appear to me that the entire page is missing!
It was for me too Chuck, but i removed the last part of the link and all the pages that were on that link used a flash player to show the pictures. :-p
You need to remove the comma Spriggins put at the end of the posted link.
-- answer removed --
LOL, I didn't even look at the link :)

My excuse is it's been a long day (and has already had far too much to do with flash!)
Chuck:
Spriggins has typed a comma at the end of that link which, through the absence of a space, has been absorbed into the link, making it invalid.

Dabees seems to have correctly identified the problem as being that Flash is either not installed, or not functioning.

Spriggins
AB's Technology section is full of posts relating to Flash Player not working. Dabees has given you the correct link but if Flash is already present on your PC (but not functioning) you'll probably need to uninstall it first, before getting the download. (In XP go to Add/Remove Programs, from the Control Panel, and remove 'Adobe Flash Player Plug-in'. In Vista go to Start-> Control Panel-> Programs-> Programs and Features, to access the Add/Remove Programs applet).

Chris
Don't you just hate Chris and his precise answers, Chuck? Especially at this time of night. when you've been flashing all day. ;-)
Question Author
Sorry about the comma. Chris, I did what you suggested, uninstalled flash and reinstalled it using Dabees link, but it still doesn't work. I'm beginning to give up hope. Perhaps I should just stick with IE!
